Story: Dr. Geiger geht entschieden zu weit, als er an einer Toten ein Kunstherz testet. Er gerät in eine regelrechte Lebenskrise, weil er die Vorwürfe der Klinikleitung für sein Handeln nicht nachvollziehen kann. Dr. Shutt hat eine schwarze Tumorpatientin, allein erziehende Mutter, der eine schwierige Operation bevorsteht. Jonathan Saunders von der Gesundheitsorganisation will, dass Mrs. White in einem anderen Krankenhaus operiert wird, wo der Eingriff billiger ist. Er droht damit, falls die Operation in einem anderen Krankenhaus ein Misserfolg wird, an die Öffentlichkeit zu gehen...
